Data we collect

When you sign up in the app we collect:

• Name and email
• Password (stored encrypted) or, for Google sign-in, your Google account identifier and email verification
• Your preferred app language
• Movies and series you mark as watched and favorite
• Which trailers you opened and how many (to apply the free version's trailer limit)
• Your country, taken from the device, your Play Store account or estimated from your IP address (the IP is not stored), for statistics. IP geolocation: IP Geolocation by DB-IP
• App usage, linked to your account and to an anonymous installation identifier: session length and count, searches and filters chosen, titles shown and skipped (next and previous), favorites and watched titles, trailers opened, shares started, views and taps on the subscription button, ads shown, app errors and app version
• Anonymous usage counts, not linked to your account: search filters chosen (genre, rating, year and language) and taps on the subscription button
• If you subscribe to the ad-free version: purchase country, currency, amount, dates and subscription status, provided by Google Play (we never receive your card details)

How we use your data

We use your data to:

• Authenticate your account and keep you signed in
• Suggest movies and series based on your history and favorite genres
• Score how similar new suggestions are to what you watched or liked
• Show the app in your chosen language
• Answer support requests sent from the app
• Confirm and support your ad-free subscription
• Apply the free version's trailer limit and understand how the app is used (sessions, searches, title discovery, retention, countries and languages) so we can improve it, in internal reports only administrators can access

Legal basis

We process your data to provide the service you signed up for (the movie and series discovery app) and, where applicable, based on your consent.

Data sharing

Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes. The movie and series catalog comes from TMDB (The Movie Database), and no personal data is sent to it. Payments are processed by Google Play, under Google's privacy policy. Ads in the free version are served by Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and usage data under Google's privacy policy.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile > Delete account) or on this page: your profile, history and usage records linked to your account are removed right away. Payment records are kept only for the period required by tax law.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion or portability of your data, or withdraw your consent, at any time by contacting us at the email below.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss or destruction: passwords are never stored in plain text and the app session token is stored encrypted on your device.

Google sign-in

When you use "Continue with Google", Google shares only your name, email and email verification with us, used solely to create or sign in to your Vimo account. We do not access any other data from your Google Account.
